The Abraham Lapson Hebrew School
Our School
The F.R.E.E. Hebrew School is a place where the joys, values and traditions of Judaism are brought to life. We feel it is essential that this experience represent a positive, cheerful and enjoyable chapter of the child’s maturing process. The primary goal of our school is for our children to develop deeply rooted feelings of pride and affection for their heritage and for the land of Israel.
The Approach
Our methodology is to stress the positive aspects of Judaism and its mitzvot (precepts). Many children are out of touch with their identity. An identity of beauty and deep significance, one which is inherently their own and has preserved us for thousands of years.
At our Hebrew School, an area of particular emphasis is in the inculcation of Jewish values and ethics. Mutual tolerance and respect for fellow human beings are taught as basic principles of the Jewish faith.
Philosophy
Our school is a traditional learning center that welcomes every Jew, regardless of religious background or level of observance. Everyone can feel comfortable with our style and approach. It is for this reason that our school does not require any membership or prior affiliation as a condition for enrollment.
The Atmosphere
The underlying strength of our school is in our spirit and sense of pride in the Jewish identity, taking place in an atmosphere of joy and liveliness. Games, drama, songs, arts, crafts and audio-visual presentations are blended with the curriculum to keep the children motivated and enthusiastic. Educational outings also add an exciting dimension to the program.
Curriculum
Our program is designed to provide a broad understanding and appreciation of Judaic tradition and scholarship. Areas of academic emphasis include in depth understanding of Torah, Jewish history, holidays, traditions, culture, prayer and current events. Students will also develop the ability to understand the mystical part of the Bible. Classes are divided on the basis of age and level.
As an added feature, we offer physical education to help stimulate the mind and body provided by a certified teacher.
Bar & Bat Mitzvah
As we approach closer to the Bar/Bat Mitzvah, individual tutoring sessions will be provided as well as speech preparation. Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony will take place in our facility.
